Summer’s almost over? Start preparing your beard for the cold season!

With the last days of heat coming to an end, it’s time to start thinking about the colder seasons and the impact they can have on your beard. Summer, with its blue skyes and lot’s of sunbathes, may have damaged it and you’re probably in need of a reset. Find out how you can prepare your beard for Autumn with our indispensable tips!

Why is my beard so dry and unhealthy?

It’s true that there are a lot of benefits when growing a beard during Summer, it gives you more time to experiment certain styles, it gives your face a natural shade and it can protect you from sunburn. However and if you’ve neglected your facial hair, your beard may look a lot dryer now because of the intense sun and the high number of sunbathes. Additionally, dry skin can lead to problems such as dandruff and itchiness which can be annoying.

I want to start over! What can I do?

There are various processes and products that can do wonders to your beard and give it a new life without the need of shaving it all.

1- Exfoliating: A few spoons of olive oil mixed with sugar and some drops of lemon juice can make your beard look brighter, younger and more hydrated without having to spend a lot of money. You can create this natural exfoliating mask anytime because the ingredients are very simple and are a normal part of any household grocery list.

2- Trimming: All you need is a beard-specific scissor, a lot of patience and being careful to keep your face looking symmetric. If your beard doesn’t need weekly/monthly trimming, we recommend that you trim it every two months to avoid the appearance of split ends. If you don’t feel confident trimming your beard at home you can also go to one of your city’s barber shops and support the local commerce.

3- Having a Daily Routine: This is probably our preferred advice for all bearded men out there. Having a daily beard routine is like keeping your car in check. Just like a car needs constant inspections, beards also can’t be neglected and left abandoned. As always, we recommend the use of a specific beard shampoo 3-4 times per week and a few drops of beard oil every day. Shampoos remove all the dirt that is tightly stuck on your facial hair and are more gentle than regular hair shampoos and the oil hydrates, softens and gives your beard a natural shine.

Just as new!

After reading our tips on how to prepare your beard for the cold seasons, you won’t ever have to deal with a spoiled beard again, which leaves you more time to experience a more relaxed Barbudo life.
